SPIN PLAYER HEVC

HEVC media player for professional applications requiring ultra-high-quality video up to 16K.

Spin Digital HEVC Media Player (Spin Player HEVC) enables real-time decoding and playback of HEVC/H.265 video up to 16K and MPEG-H Audio on PC-based systems.

Spin Player HEVC is addressed to innovative and demanding playback systems in broadcast, immersive video projection, video walls, virtual reality, and professional media.

Key Features

EFFICIENT AND SCALABLE IMPLEMENTATION
Highly optimized software enabling real-time playback of 8K at 60 frames/s on a compact PC. Larger form factors make 8K with HFR (120 frames/s) or resolutions beyond 8K (12K, 16K) possible.

PROFESSIONAL VIDEO FORMATS
Designed for applications requiring maximum quality preservation with 4:2:2, 4:4:4, RGB, and up to 12-bit.

ADVANCED VIDEO RENDERING ENGINE
Enables smooth playback of 4K, 8K, 16K, and 360° video by using a high-end engine that supports GPU rendering (using DirectX 12) or software rendering with SDI professional cards.

PRESERVING THE HDR INTENTION
Support for HDR playback on HDMI and SDI interfaces, and integrated HDR-to-SDR tone mapping algorithm for high-quality dynamic range preservation on standard displays.

NEXT-GENERATION AUDIO (NGA)
Support for the MPEG-H Audio format enabling immersive and personalized audio experiences for broadcast and new media services.

PROFESSIONAL AUDIO RENDERING
Low-latency audio render engine for WASAPI, SDI, and ASIO interfaces with support for multiple audio devices.

FILE-BASED PLAYBACK
Supports the common MP4, MPEG2-TS, and MKV file formats, and HTTP streaming (HLS and DASH).

LOW-LATENCY TS-OVER-IP STREAMING
Support for MPEG2-TS over IP protocols for low-latency live streaming: UDP, RTP, SRT, RIST, Zixi.

MULTI-DEVICE RENDERING
Facilitates versatile screen and playback layouts using multiple GPUs or SDI devices in tiling (single large surface), cloning, and alternate (for HFR playback) modes.

Use Cases

8K DISTRIBUTION

File and live playback of 8Kp60 4:2:0 10-bit HDR videos encoded in HEVC at distribution bitrates, typically, from 50 to 100 Mbps. It requires a desktop PC with a GPU that includes an HDMI 2.1 output to be connected to the 8K TV.

8K CONTRIBUTION

File and live playback 8Kp60 4:2:2 10-bit streams encoded in HEVC at broadcast contribution bitrates ranging from 200 to 250 Mbps. It requires a workstation with a 12G-SDI output interface which enables maximum control of the video processing and display chain.

For more information about 8K playback using a 12G-SDI interface, click here.

HIGH FIDELITY

Visually-lossless playback of 8Kp60 HEVC content in master file quality with 4:4:4 12-bit format at very high bitrates (600 Mbps). Unlike mezzanine files, such as ProRes or DNxHR, HEVC-encoded videos provide very low bandwidth and reduced storage and transmission cost.

HIGH FRAME RATE (HFR)

HEVC playback of 4K-UHD or 8K-UHD content with HFR (120 fps, 240 fps) or 8Kp60 3D stereoscopic format to drive high-end applications to the next level of visual experience. 8Kp120 playback requires a workstation with two SDI cards operating in alternate mode, each one extracting 8K video at 60 fps.

For more information about 8Kp120 playback over SDI, click here.

VERY LARGE SCREEN DISPLAY

Playback of HEVC video in very large resolution up to 16K for the most demanding immersive media and large screen applications. The playback workstation can incorporate multiple GPUs or SDI cards that are connected to a multi-display system, such as video walls.

VR/360-DEGREE VIDEO

360° video playback in 8K, 12K, and 16K resolution for ultra-high-quality VR and immersive media. The playback PC supports the most popular input projection formats (equirectangular, cubemap,), output projection for planar and curved screen  and includes interaction features such as rotation and zoom in/out.
