Spin Digital Releases a new Version of its New Media SDK
Berlin, May 16, 2022 – Spin Digital announced today the launch of a new version of its Media SDK (Spin SDK 5.0). This release includes many new features such as 8K live desktop capture, low-latency reliable streaming, 8K-to-8K live transcoding, extended SDI rendering device support, support for ASIO audio devices, and VVC MP4 demuxing.
Spin SDK is a set of optimized libraries for video and audio capture, encoding, streaming, processing, and playback that facilitate the creation of high-end media applications in broadcasting and streaming, immersive media, and large screen visualization.
The new main features of this SDK release are summarized next:
8K Windows Desktop Capture
Capture, encoding and streaming of the entire Windows desktop is now possible in 8K resolution and using a single workstation or server. This feature will allow improved user experiences in live screencasting applications such as e-learning, remote diagnosis and engineering, by transmitting 8Kp60 video with very high quality.
8K-to-8K Live Transcoding
The SDK allows an 8Kp60 HEVC contribution stream in TSoIP to be captured, decoded, re-encoded into an 8Kp60 HEVC distribution format to be finally transmitted via HTTP, TSoP or both simultaneously, all these steps in real-time.
Low-latency Reliable Streaming
Along with HLS and RTP/UDP streaming, the streaming module supports state-of-the-art reliable transport protocols including SRT, RIST and Zixi, which can be used to guarantee high quality of service and low-latency TSoIP transmission over the Internet.
Extended SDI Rendering Device Support
The catalog of devices that can be used by the video render engine has been extended. In addition to GPU and AJA SDI cards, the new SDK now supports the Blackmagic Decklink 8K Pro SDI card.
Professional Audio Devices
In addition to Windows WASAPI and SDI interfaces, the audio render engine now supports professional Audio Stream Input/Output (ASIO) devices. ASIO is a driver protocol that provides direct and very low-latency communication between the audio software application and the hardware device. ASIO is supported by a whole range of professional audio devices and interfaces including MADI and DANTE.
VVC MP4 Demuxing
With the new SDK, VVC streams in MP4 (ISOBMFF) can be demuxed and decoded using Spin Digital’s VVC real-time decoder, facilitating VVC adoption in media workflows.
Platform Support
The new SDK is available for different OS platforms including Windows 8.1 and 10, Red Hat Linux 7 and 8, and Ubuntu 18.04.
