Spin Digital at Cannes 2015

Spin Digital was present at the 68th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which took place at the French Riviera city from May 13th to May 24th.

Berlin, Cannes, May 14, 2015 — Mauricio Álvarez-Mesa, CEO and co-founder of Spin Digital was at the Marché du Film (Cannes Film Market) as a part of the Film265 project. In this project a new VoD solution based on the HEVC/H.265 codec is being developed, and it will be integrated, among others, in the Cinando website, which is the on-line platform of the Marché du Film. Thousands users from the film industry use the Cinando webpage to distribute, preview, watch and sell movies. With the H.265 upgraded platform it is expected that users will experience a much better video quality. The launch of the new VoD services based on H.265 is expected for the Cannes Film Festival of 2016.

Apart from the regular film screenings, and the market activity the festival also featured the so-called NEXT pavilion, in which startups, media companies and and research projects presented new technologies for emerging cinema experiences. VoD platforms with digital distribution, and VR content were among the hot topics.
