Spin Digital at IBC 2025
Berlin, August 18th 2025. At Spin Digital we are pleased to announce our participation in the IBC 2025. The tradeshow is scheduled to take place from September 12 to 15 2025 at the RAI Convention Center in Amsterdam.

As a leading provider of high-performance video encoding software, we will be showcasing the latest advancements of our state-of-the-art HEVC and VVC video encoders. Spin Digital software video codecs enable next-generation video applications, delivering exceptional video quality, efficiency, latency, and performance across a wide range of applications, including live streaming, real-time communication, broadcasting, transcoding, and immersive media.
At IBC 2025 we are introducing the latest version of our codec SDK with cutting-edge features for advanced video applications. We are showcasing four major product updates at this year’s IBC:
- World first real-time scalable 8K VVC encoder
- Ultra low-latency HEVC and VVC encoders
- Perceptual quality improvements to live HEVC and VVC encoders
- Multi-view HEVC and VVC for high-end VR-360° applications
Live Scalable VVC 8K
Spin Digital has implemented the world’s first real-time scalable VVC encoder. At IBC 2025 we will showcase a scalable VVC encoder capable of encoding 8K video with 3 layers/resolutions in real time. The scalable stream contains a Full HD base layer and 4K and 8K enhancement layers.
The scalable encoder inherits all the advanced functionalities of the Spin Digital live VVC encoder: state-of-the-art rate control, perceptual optimization, ultra-optimized CPU implementation, and comprehensive input and output modules.
Spin Digital player (Spin Player) already supports scalable decoding and can be used for decoding scalable VVC streams. The demo will showcase a PC-based 8K decoder and a laptop-based 4K decoder with VVC live scalable support.
Scalable coding offers a flexible and efficient delivery mechanism of multi-resolution video to end devices with different capabilities, with applications in broadcasting, streaming and real-time communication.
In addition to scalable video Spin Digital’s encoders are able to encode live multi-resolution video (.eg. 8K, 4K, 1080p) using a single server simplifying live video delivery and reducing costs.
Ultra low-latency HEVC and VVC encoders
Spin Digital HEVC and VVC encoders have been extended with a new operation mode for ultra-low latency encoding. The enhanced encoders include all the required features for the target use cases including single frame latency, state-the-art rate control, small HRD buffer support, and gradual decoder intra refresh (GDR). In addition, it includes a complete framework for real-time low-latency applications with input camera capture, filtering, encoding and streaming.
The encoder is able to encode 4K 60 fps video in ultra-low latency on resource constrained platforms with small form factor and low power. 8K ultra-low latency is also possible using a workstation with 96 cores.
At IBC 2025 Spin Digital will demonstrate the world’s first 4Kp60 ultra-low latency VVC encoder. It runs on a small form factor MiniPC with a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9950x CPU. Spin Digital’s decoder and player has also been optimized for ultra-low latency and will be showcased in the end-to-end demonstration.
The demo highlights that VVC and HEVC software codecs optimized for ultra-low latency applications can make a significant difference for applications such as real-time communication, remote control, cloud gaming, remote desktop infrastructure, and broadcast contribution.
Perceptual quality improvements to live HEVC and VVC encoders
The HEVC and VVC encoders have been improved for better performance, quality, compression and new functionality. This includes among others:
- Improved screen content detector which dynamically enables tools that improve coding of screen content.
- Improved perceptual quality control algorithm allowing robust single pass CAE
- Support for inserting dynamic random access points, required, for example, for dynamic add insertion
At IBC 2025 we will showcase the new encoders and the resulting quality for 4K HDR content and its application for Content-aware Encoding (CAE).
Multi-view HEVC and VVC for high-end VR-360° applications
MV-HEVC is becoming the standard solution for next-generation immersive devices with very high resolution as it allows to reduce the bitrate required for high quality 3D (stereo) streaming. The VVC standard also supports multi-view coding as part of the multilayer profile, offering further bitrate reductions and quality improvements compared to MV-HEVC.
Spin Digital is releasing its MV-HEVC and MV-VVC implementations with support for live and file workflows. The multi-view encoders have all the features of the Spin Digital encoders including: multiple rate control methods (CBR, VBR, PQP), perceptual optimized encoding, and highly optimized implementation for live and near-live applications. MV-HEVC live and file streaming using HLS has been validated for the Apple Vision Pro (AVP) headset.
For live workflows the MV-HEVC encoder exhibits very high performance capabilities, including 8K at 120fps and 12K at 60fps live encoding, ready for the most demanding live immersive applications.
