Spin Digital at After NAB 2017 in Tokyo: 8K with Wide Color Gamut

Spin Digital will present an 8K HEVC video playback demonstration featuring Wide Color Gamut at After NAB 2017. The event will take place from June 1st to 2nd 2017 at the UDX Gallery in Akihabara, Tokyo. The demonstration is presented with the support of TJC at the ELSA booth.

8K Media Player Demonstration
A software media player capable of reproducing ultra-high quality 8K at 60 frames per second with Wide Color Gamut will be showcased. A new 8K monitor, kindly provided by from Panasonic Liquid Crystal Display Co., that supports the BT.2020 color space for Wide Color Gamut will be used to showcase ultra-high quality 8K video content.

8K with Wide Color Gamut

The emerging 8K format is not only about resolution but also includes video quality enhancements such as High Dynamic Range and Wide Color Gamut.

BT.2020 is the most recent standard for Wide Color Gamut defined by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). It increases the quality of the perceived images by extending significantly the color range that can be displayed. Developing 100%  BT.2020 compliant screens has probed to very difficult for the imaging electronics industry. As a result most current systems supporting Wide Color Gamut use the DCI-P3 color space originally defined for the digital cinema. A new prototype panel from Panasonic Liquid Crystal Display supports 8K and most of the BT.2020 color space.

Spin Digital Media Player and Encoder for 8K and WCG 

Spin Digital Media Player supports multiple color spaces including BT.2020 giving media professionals a flexible solution for testing, developing, and exhibiting ultra-high definition content with Wide Color Gamut.

In addition, Spin Digital HEVC/H.265 encoder includes a high precision color space conversion filter that allows to change color spaces including support for BT.2020, DCI-P3, BT.709, and BT.601.
